Moncton stadium under construction, Moncton, N.B. – 18 November 1931. – 1 photograph : b&w ; 12.5 x 17.5 cm. Photographer unknown. This view faces west, with the Children’s Home at the end of George Street on the left and the railway tracks and Pacific Avenue in the background. The original stadium was destroyed by fire on 2 October 1931. Within weeks, this new one was under construction. Many building trade workers lost their jobs during the Depression, so this project provided much-needed employment. Crews worked around the clock, and the job was completed ahead of schedule – just 29 days after construction began. P197-241 Time Frame Photo photographs, PANB.
